"Once we figured out which product to purchase (with the help of APC) we order the item, it arrived SOONER than we expected, we installed it and it is working just fine. The only way I can see to improve the product is to figure a way to make the battery lighter !"

"All and all the APC Smart-UPS 1500VA is a amazing product. I am very please. I just started moving many of my small business hardware over to a rack format.
This APC unit like all the other is heavy, well built. Installation of the hardware is very simple. While I am pleased there is a good chance that you might have more devices to plug into this APC then there are outlets on the back. As more devices are becoming smaller and more green they require less power. In my setup I have 3 ReadyNAS NAS's and two Mac Mini's that are being powered by this beast. All 5 devices can remain powered on for over 1 hour. Over all I am very please, I give the Hardware 5/5 stars.
The APC software is another story. All of the software is designed for PC's and is rather out dated. The native Mac support is only designed for a single APC unit with a single Mac. There is NO APC software solution that is currently supported for Mac's and PC and there isn't any good documentation about the best way to use the APC. The answer is you need to use NUT. Google UPS and NUT and you will figure out what NUT is if you don't know. NUT was the best way for me to share the APC data with the various servers connected to it.
I deducted the start because the APC website does not even mention NUT. So you end up having to go a classic internet scavenger hunt to figure out how to get things running. It's not hard once you find the details but APC should help point people in the right direction if they are going to no longer support Mac or Linux."

"I used this unit to protect a couple of clustered Dell PowerEdge 2950 servers vital to communications for a small company that didn't have an UPS infrastructure or 220v. We installed the APC software and it does its job at powering down the server after 10 minutes on battery. So far, no issues with the product."
